Performing surveillance and inspection of assigned construction projects
Reviewing plans and specifications, shop drawings and requests for changes to determine site compatibility, the applicability of terrain, soils, the feasibility of structure to anticipate problems
Performing inspections of construction, deviations from schedules, the substitution of materials and resolution of
Monitoring contractor’s quality control measures and safety practices.
Bachelor of Science in Engineering
5 years of engineering experience with medical/healthcare projects including commercial hospital construction and/or government buildings/facilities projects
Proficient using computerized management system applications and construction; MIS system for documenting progress
Knowledge of all aspects of commercial mechanical construction including but not limited to codes, acceptable installation practices, applicable testing associated with mechanical elements of the building
transportation systems (elevators), low voltage systems (security, nurse call, public address, fire alarm), sprinkler and fire suppression systems, steam piping systems, domestic water systems, HVAC equipment, air intakes,exhausts, air handling units, pumps, piping, chillers, controls, plenums, pressurized systems and drain-waste-vent
Knowledge of mechanical design.
Ability to review design and construction plans against site conditions, assess the need for changes because of unforeseen conditions or design problems, and propose cost effective solutions.
Ability to determine compliance of workmanship, materials, equipment and installed work with contract
Ability to use various software programs to monitor, update and produce work products by computer. Ability to use a project management database program for administration of contract documents.
Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.
Ability to clear background security investigations for contractors.
Completed OSHA Safety Training is desirable.
